The closest you can gamble with cheap cards and have something usable are those no name odd capacity ones but if you want to be safe you have go to a proper retailer and pay the going rate for name brand products. This year is terrible for storage and memory pricing
You said you were using your phone to transfer the images. Have you tried using a computer with the card reader to determine whether the issue is with the card or the phone?
At work I’ve had the pool director that could see the pictures from the SD card on his camera, but it would never work with an adapter. I saw his camera had a connector that would fit a micro-USB cable, so I plugged that cable from the camera to the computer. The computer was then able to read the SD card using the camera as the adapter.
See if this method works for you.
Cheap and reliable are not things that tend go to together we’ll with microSD. From all card types, microSD has had the highest fail rate with me. All brands have budget cards and very good ones and they are tiered enough to hopefully live up to the next tier in reliability. I tend to default to Samsung cards as I have had better luck with them than SanDisk, but someone else will have the complete opposite experience. Best is to buy the best card for your budget and hope it holds up.
Same issue happened with me. Anyone has the solution?
Hi all! Yesterday, I was importing photos from my SD card to my phone using an SD card reader and Lightroom when about half way through, my phone crashed for some reason. Half of the pictures imported correctly to Lightroom although the remaining images did not. Now, whenever I plug the SD card into the reader, it does not show up, although the SD card still stores and displays photos on my camera. I was wondering if my phone powering off caused my card to corrupt, and If there is any way to import the photos into Lightroom as RAW’s. I’ve tried Cannon’s camera connect app but with all the pictures i’d like to import, it would take far too long.
Also, maybe the way I import photos is not the most optimal so if there is a better/more efficient way I would really appreciate it!
You aren’t going to find that with those requirements. Not anymore. You’d need a U3 SD card to hit those speeds, and you almost certainly aren’t going to be able to find a genuine one of those cheaper than about $50 USD
Could be the card reader.
I have a card reader that won’t let me delete or move files but it copies files over fast. Another card reader works fine but transfers files slowly.
Can you connect the camera directly?
Just think about what you are saying. Are the fake ones reliable?
No.
They take your files and garbage them.
Perhaps stand back for a bit and save up for a quality SD card from a trusted local store. Don’t waste your money.
My wife and I used an audio guest book wedding phone that saves audio recordings to an SD card. Looks like an 8gb micro sd from V7 world(?)
My wife had access to the recordings via her iPad until last week. Now no iPad, phone, laptop is able to detect the sd card and we’ve tried multiple adapters. My fear is that it’s fried based on preliminary research but figured it would be worth a shot here.
Thank you to anyone who reads this
I’m looking for the best Micro SD i can get. Mainly looking for:
Cheap ($40 / £30 or below)
Reputable (like a well-known brand)
Fast (100 MB/s or above)
Large Capacity (256gb or above)
What camera and SD card are you using? Have you tried the card on a computer yet?
The fact that your camera can still display the photos is a good sign. It sounds more like the phone crash interrupted the transfer rather than permanently corrupting the card.
I’d stop using the card for now and try accessing it on a computer with a different card reader. You can also connect the camera directly to the computer and copy the RAW files that way. If the card isn’t recognized but the photos are still visible in-camera, recovery software may be able to recover the files. Just avoid formatting the card.
I need more space on my phone so I’ve been looking for 256gb sd cards but the prices are crazy I’m thinking of buying the fakes ones but I know my friend bought a cheap usb drive with “1tb” and it has issues with data (he had a incident where some files dissapeared) does anyone know where to find reliable cheap sd cards or if the fake ones on Amazon are reliable? Please help.
If you don’t want to install the optional update, Microsoft says the fix will also be included in the regular June Patch Tuesday update, so most users should get it automatically soon.
