I wasn’t so lucky. My old work laptop asked for the recovery key after a motherboard replacement, and I couldn’t find the key anywhere.

Fortunately, yes. I found it in my Microsoft account and regained access within a few minutes.

that’s a common situation. Many newer Windows devices enable BitLocker automatically during setup. Were you able to locate the recovery key in your Microsoft account?

This happened to me after a BIOS update on my Dell laptop. After rebooting, Windows suddenly asked for a BitLocker recovery key. I honestly didn’t remember enabling BitLocker in the first place.
