Insert a Disk into USB drive

Out of nowhere, my 1TB external SSD stopped responding. When I connect it to any of my three laptops, I get an error saying, “Insert a disk into USB drive.” The drive does show up in the system, but it’s greyed out and can’t be accessed at all. Has anyone faced something like this or knows what steps I can take to fix it? Any suggestions would be really helpful.
