Naah! Get a new one and dont even think to fix it by yourself.

After buying a new storage device, always test it, especially if it’s from a 3rd party seller. I recommend using the official SD formatter to format the card, then h2testw to fill up the entire drive and verify the data. Many scammers can buy a cheaper card and spoof a higher capacity firmware so it appears to be the larger size, even if it can’t actually hold that much space. There’s also a possibility of it just being bad.

It’s an EOS 5D mark iii, won’t read the big SD card, can’t rlly tell if I bent a pin or not.

r/Cameras - SD card reader damaged?

Yeah this kinda stuff happens more than you’d think 😬 USB drives can get weird like that when they’re failing or corrupted.

Nah fr that’s not normal at all 😭💀 SD cards don’t just randomly delete or corrupt stuff unless they’re cooked or fake. Even if it says Samsung, it could be a counterfeit card (super common btw). Once it starts bugging like that, it’s basically done—no real fix.

Hey everyone, my sd got corrupted and ended up losing all my data, I want to reformat it but I can’t since it only shows 32m. My switch shows the same thing, how do I resolve this? I tried numerous programs but they didn’t work

Not super common tbh, especially if you’re using solid brands, but yeah it can happen. Using one big card isn’t terrible, just kinda risky if it fails = everything gone 😬. A lot of pros split across smaller cards + dual slots for safety. Your setup’s fine, just depends how safe you wanna play it.

My children bent my SD card. I have my holiday pictures there 🙁 Is there any chance the data can still be recovered?

Should i take it to a photographer?

r/AskPhotography - SD card is broken. Is it fixable?

After installing a Windows update yesterday, one of my drive partitions disappeared from File Explorer. Disk Management shows it as unallocated now. All my files were on that partition—can I recover it?

Windows updates can occasionally cause partition tables or drive letters to become corrupted, making a partition appear missing or unallocated. This thread discusses why partitions may disappear after an update, how to check if the data still exists, and safe methods to recover lost partitions without overwriting data.

thanks for your suggestions, will act upon it.

I had a similar issue with my Seagate drive last year. It clicked for two days before completely dying. I was able to recover most of my documents while it was still being detected intermittently using recovery software, so act quickly

If the drive remains readable for short periods, you can try using a data recovery tool like Stellar Data Recovery to scan and extract important files while it’s still detectable. Start with the most critical files first.

A clicking sound usually points to a mechanical issue inside the drive—often the read/write head or spindle motor. The most important thing is to <strong data-start=”1048″ data-end=”1084″>stop using the drive immediately, because continued power cycles can worsen the damage.

My external hard drive also started making a clicking noise today and now it’s not opening properly. It still shows up sometimes but disconnects after a few seconds. Can the data still be recovered?
