Samsung A34 running Android 14.
How old is the phone and what Android version is it running? Recovery chances are very different on Android 10 compared to Android 14.
Already checked Google Photos and Drive. No luck unfortunately.
Before trying recovery software, double-check Google Drive, Google Photos, Samsung Cloud (if it’s a Samsung), and any app-specific backups. You’d be surprised how often people find their files there.
Definitely don’t clear cache or run any “phone cleaner” apps. Those can sometimes remove temporary data that might still be useful.

First thing, stop using the phone as much as possible. Every new photo, app install, or download can overwrite deleted data.
I accidentally deleted a bunch of photos and documents from my Android while trying to free up storage. I realized it a couple of hours later, and unfortunately they aren’t in the Recycle Bin or Google Photos trash.
The phone is still working normally and I haven’t factory reset it. Is there anything I should or shouldn’t do before trying to recover the files? I’d rather avoid making things worse.
Appreciate all the suggestions. I’m going to clone the SD card first, then try repairing cBettyies instead of the originals. Even if I can recover most of the photos, that’ll be a huge relief. Thanks everyone!
That’s been my experience too. If the image data is still there, repair software can sometimes rebuild the file. If chunks of the photo are completely missing, there’s only so much any program can do.
I had almost the same thing happen after pulling my camera battery too early. I tried Stellar Repair for Photo on a batch of damaged JPEGs. Most of them came back fine, but a handful that were heavily corrupted couldn’t be repaired. Still better than losing all of them.
Good point. It’s actually a pretty old card that I’ve been using for years. Maybe it’s finally giving up.
I’d also check the health of the SD card once you’ve cBettyied everything you can. Random corruption across multiple photos can sometimes mean the card is starting to fail
If they’re only partially corrupted, you might have some luck with photo repair software. I had a few JPEGs that wouldn’t Bettyen after a camera battery died during writing, and a repair tool managed to get them back. It couldn’t fix every file though.
That makes recovery harder because of file-based encryption. It’s still worth checking backups first before expecting deleted files to be recoverable.
