I installed it a few days ago and haven’t had any problems. Everything seems normal on my desktop, so it might only be affecting certain systems.

Has anyone else had issues after installing the Windows 11 KB5094126 update? I came across reports from users experiencing grey screens, login problems, and other weird issues after updating.

I wasn’t so lucky. My old work laptop asked for the recovery key after a motherboard replacement, and I couldn’t find the key anywhere.

Fortunately, yes. I found it in my Microsoft account and regained access within a few minutes.

that’s a common situation. Many newer Windows devices enable BitLocker automatically during setup. Were you able to locate the recovery key in your Microsoft account?

This happened to me after a BIOS update on my Dell laptop. After rebooting, Windows suddenly asked for a BitLocker recovery key. I honestly didn’t remember enabling BitLocker in the first place.

Many Windows users have reported being prompted for a BitLocker recovery key after a Windows update, BIOS update, or hardware change. In some cases, users suddenly lose access to their files and are unsure how to regain access to their drives.

I had a similar issue after a sudden power outage. The drive was detected but showed an “Access Denied” error whenever I tried to open it.

Yes, everything was there once the drive letter was reassigned.

That’s a great point, Sarah. Drive letter conflicts are often overlooked and can be an easy fix. Did your files remain intact after changing the drive letter?

For me, the problem turned out to be a drive letter conflict. The drive showed up in Disk Management but wasn’t accessible. Assigning a new drive letter fixed it immediately.

Yes, file transfers had become noticeably slower a few weeks before the issue appeared. I ignored it at the time, which was probably a mistake.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Mike. Did you notice any warning signs beforehand, such as slow file transfers, clicking noises, or occasional disconnects?

I ran into this issue last month with my 2TB Seagate external drive. Windows detected it, but double-clicking the drive caused File Explorer to freeze. In my case, the drive had several bad sectors. I was able to recover most of my files before replacing the drive.
