On Windows, you can also try running the built-in CHKDSK utility to repair errors.

My microSD card is physically damaged (bent/snapped/cracked, god know what!), and it’s no longer recognized by any device. I’m trying to recover some important data (mostly photos and videos). Has anyone successfully recovered data from a physically broken SD card? Are there any DIY options, or do I need a professional recovery service? If so, any recommendations?

@Jane
Were you able to fix the issues? I am having the same kind of issue with my SanDisk SD card.

I have a [size] GB SD card that I use with my [device type – e.g., camera, Android phone, Raspberry Pi]. I recently deleted a bunch of files, but the card still shows as nearly full. I’ve already emptied the recycle bin (if applicable), and tried checking it on a computer. Any idea what’s going on or how to fix it?

Good call. Also stop using the phone until you try recovery..new data might overwrite the deleted photos.

Got it. I do have itunes backups from a while back on my pc. Maybe I’ll try scanning those.

Wellll bud..in that case your only real option is third party iphone recovery software. It can scan the phone or any itunes backups you have on your computer to try pulling out deleted photos. Not a guarantee, but worth trying before giving up.

Just checked iCloud.com… sadly they’re not there either. Looks like I didn’t have photos sync turned on

Restoring from icloud would bring your whole device back to that point in time, not just the photos. Sometimes you can log in to icloud.com and see if the photos are still there without restoring the phone.

Hmmmmm..I think my phone was backing up to icloud, but not 100% sure. I’ll need to check. If I find a backup, does it restore everything or just the photos?

If they’re not in recently deleted, the built in photos app won’t bring them back. Only chance is if you had a backup in icloud or itunes from before they got deleted. Did you ever back up?

Hi, I accidentally permanently deleted some photos from my iPhone and they’re not in the “Recently Deleted” folder anymore. Is there any way at all to get them back? Thanks.

That honestly makes me feel better. I’ll check my pc and see if there’s a backup file. If it’s there, I’ll try one of those recovery tools. Maybe I don’t need to burn 3 grand after all. Thanks everyone.

Exactly. Hardware labs are like last resort when the phone is dead AND there’s zero backup. But since you might have an tTunes backup, try that first. Way less cost, and you’ll at least know if the photos are there.
