If your SD card keeps unmounting randomly, it could be due to a hardware issue (like a loose slot or damaged contacts), a corrupted file system, outdated device drivers, or power management settings interfering.
Try using a different card reader or USB port, update or reinstall drivers, disable any power‑saving settings on USB ports, run disk check (e.g. CHKDSK on Windows), and if needed back up your data and reformat the card. If the problem still happens, the SD card or the reader hardware is likely failing. Try another.
If your SD card is showing an error like “damaged” or “unable to read,” there are a few things you can try. First, test the card on a different device or use another card reader to rule out issues with your current setup.
If the card still isn’t working, try using a file recovery tool like Photorec or Stellar to recover your data. You can also run a disk check (like CHKDSK on Windows) to scan for errors on the card. If these steps don’t work, you might have to format the SD card, but be aware that this will erase all data on it. In case the card is physically damaged, recovery may be more difficult or impossible without professional help.
I accidentally deleted some important photos from my camera (Canon/Nikon/DSLR, depending on your case) and was wondering if anyone here has successfully managed to recover deleted pictures. What tools or methods did you use? Were you able to recover everything, or just a few? I’ve tried some basic recovery software, but I’m not sure if I’m going about it the right way. Any advice on best practices or recommendations for programs would be greatly appreciated!
Patience is key here. Deep scans can take a while, especially for internal memory. But if the video is important and the phone wasn’t used much, there’s a decent chance you’ll get it back.
One more thing..if you tried a bunch of software before, uninstall any old trial versions. Sometimes leftover temp files mess with the scan. Start fresh with a clean tool installation.
I lost my precious photos the same way. Have you recovered them back? I need my lost photos very badly.
Good tip, @Ezra. I didn’t even think of that. Will keep it in airplane mode during scanning.
I lost my photos due to my mistake. IS it possible to get them back with this tool?
Hi everyone, I accidentally deleted some important photos from my SD card, and I haven’t used the card much since then. Are there any reliable methods or software to recover deleted photos? What’s the best way to do it without risking further data loss? I’m using Windows but open to suggestions for Mac too. Thanks in advance!
I plugged in my USB drive, but it’s not showing up in File Explorer or Disk Management. I’ve tried different USB ports and computers, but no luck. The drive makes a sound when connected, so it seems to have power. What could be causing this, and are there any troubleshooting steps I can try to get it recognized?
Make sure your phone isn’t connected to Wi-Fi or apps that sync cloud backups, otherwise some tools might get confused. Keep it offline while scanning.
Some software offer free previews for a few files. That’s usually enough to see if your video can be recovered. Paid versions are only needed if it’s actually found and you want to save it.
Hey everyone, I’ve run into a weird issue: my SD card is showing up as full, but when I open it, there are no files or folders (or just a few that don’t add up to the capacity). I’ve tried re‑inserting it, using a different reader, and checking on another computer, but the same thing happens. Why would an SD card show as full when it’s practically empty? Does this mean the file system is corrupted, or the card is fake? What steps can I take to fix or diagnose this?
Hi all, I’ve been having a frustrating issue where my SD card randomly unmounts or disconnects while in use – sometimes during file transfers, other times just sitting idle. I’ve tried it on different devices, and it still happens. Could this be a hardware issue with the card, or is it more likely a software/compatibility problem? Any tips on how to diagnose or fix this would be really helpful.
If your SD card shows as “full” even when it looks empty, it’s often because hidden or corrupted files are using the space. Try enabling “Show hidden items” in your file explorer, or use a command such as attrib -h -r -s /s /d X:\*.* (replace X with your SD card’s drive letter) to unhide system files.
Hope it helps.
