Q:

USB Drive Not Showing Up on My Computer — How Can I Fix It?

I plugged in my USB drive, but it’s not showing up in File Explorer or Disk Management. I’ve tried different USB ports and computers, but no luck. The drive makes a sound when connected, so it seems to have power. What could be causing this, and are there any troubleshooting steps I can try to get it recognized?

First, try different USB ports, cables, and computers. In Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac), check if the drive is detected but not mounted. If it appears unallocated or RAW, data recovery software like Recuva or Photorec might help recover files.

If your USB drive isn’t showing up, try these steps: first, check Disk Management (on Windows) or Disk Utility (on Mac) to see if the drive appears but isn’t assigned a drive letter—if so, assign one.
Also, try different USB ports or cables to rule out hardware issues. Updating or reinstalling USB drivers can help, too. If the drive still isn’t recognized, it might be corrupted or damaged, and you may need data recovery tools or professional help.
